Celebrating the stories of the past and looking to the future
These kids are their ancestors wildest dreams — makers, movers, shakers, beings abounding with empathy and vision. We celebrate the knowledge held within each of us, passed down from our ancestors and filling our bones. The human story is long, and isn't that exciting?
Pano Youth is filled with change-makers who are hungry to make a positive impact on the world around them. Our choirs provide singers in 2nd-12th grade with a vibrant and affirming choral community, connecting with singers from all over the city. We meet each singer where they’re at, and explore the community building power of our voices united.

OUr Singers share a lineage of learning and love:
Nano Pano singer Clark shares:
“One treasured experience with my grandmother (and my sister) was when we would make bunny cakes on Easter together.”
Nano Pano singer Sadie shares:
I treasure drawing/doing crafts with my Nana. Also just spending time with her.
Pano Youth singer Melina shares:
I feel I have gotten many lessons learned from not only my grandparents but also people I have met along the way. For example I have learned to cherish my things like my grandfather always tells me to eat slow and to be grateful. I have also learned how to cook from my mother and have learned how to take care of myself when I need to. My dad has taught me that you should not trust everyone you meet and don't believe everything you see.
Pano Youth singer Mia shares:
My mom taught me how to bake, read music, and harmonize.

“Remember Me”
Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez arr. Roger Emerson
Soloist: Zelda
-
Remember me, though I have to say goodbye
Remember me, don't let it make you cry
For even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart
I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart
Remember me, though I have to travel far
Remember me each time you hear a sad guitar
Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be
Until you're in my arms again
Remember
“How Far can a bird fly?”
Shara Nova
-
How far can a bird fly?
There to here,And as it is going, There, to here,
Just what is it thinking?
Upon the air,Free,
Remembering yesteryear,
how it knows,
Where to go,Coo-coo, Coo-Coo
Mother showed,
Father showed,How far can a bird fly…
“Little lion”

My cat thinks he’s a lion a mighty jungle beast,
He wakes up in the morning and he’s hunting for a feast!
He sneaks up on a housefly he pounces taking flight!
He lands upon the windowsill and roars with all his might! He sings meow meow meow!
My cat thinks he’s a lion a mighty jungle beast, He may not look the part but he’s a lion to me at least!
My cat thinks he’s a lion, a lion must be brave, for others may be watching to learn how they should behave.
A lion is hardworking, and sharp of claw and mind.
But more than this above all things a lion heart is kindHe sings meow meow meow!
But more than this above all things a lion heart is kindMy cat thinks he’s a lion despite the fact he’s small.
When nighttime comes he gets so tired and curls up in a ball.
I love my little lion, who’s brave and kind and true
If that’s what makes a lion I think I’m a lion too!We sing meow meow meow!
I’m proud to be a lion, at least on the inside, I’ll do my best to lead the other members of my pride
MEOW!

My grandmothers were strong.
They followed plows and bent to toil. The moved through fields sowing seed.My grandmothers were strong.
They touched the earth and grain grew.My grandmothers were strong. They were full of sturdiness and singing. Singing!
My grandmothers are strong.
My grandmothers are full of memories.Smelling of soap and onions, and wet clay,
With veins rolling roughly over quick hands
They have many clean words to say.
They have many clean words to say.My grandmothers were strong.
My grandmothers were strong.
Why am I not as they?
“Take this gift'“
Tracy Wong
arr. Cherie Chai

My feet are rooted to the ground, oh!
My voice is soaring in the skies!I am tied to the past, beautifully tangled with you
Hand in hand, we look to the stars, to the stars!
Here, take this gift It’s not mine to keep.
Here, take this gift
Share it far so all may know, let our love for singing grow!We are branches, independent, intertwined.
We are sunlight, spreading warmth, dazzling bright! Here, take this gift It’s not mine to keep.
Here, take this gift
Share it far so all may know, let our love for singing grow!We are branches, independent
We are branches, intertwinedLet our love for singing grow!

I am a voice, one voice,
Calling out across the divide.I am a heart, one heart,
Beating strong the rhythm inside,Searching for a song, seeking out the place I belong.
You belong.
A brilliant bond of friendship, a radiant design,
Connected in community, together we will shine.
A beacon ever bright,
A constellation: We are a family of light. We have a hope, one hope, breathing out compassion and care.
We have a dream: our dream, shining out the vision we share.
Join us in the song.
Welcome home, and know you belong.A brilliant bond of friendship, a radiant design,
Connected in community, together we will shine.
A beacon ever bright,
A constellation: We are a family of light. In beams of light, in waves of sound, we are seen, we are heard, we are known, we are found!
A brilliant bond of friendship, a radiant design,
Connected in community, together we will shine.
A beacon ever bright,
A constellation: We are a family of light.
