PANORAMiC WINTER 2025 REGISTRATION

PROJEcT 1:
DIVAS” With DENSITY512

PROJEcT 2:
LORD OF THE RINGS” WITH TEXAS PERFORMING ARTS

Singers are welcome to register for EITHER or BOTH of our spring projects—we will use our lottery system to parse out performance rosters when registration closes. We have strict parameters for our Lord of the Rings project and will not be able to place every singer who wishes to participate. We are required to bring a fixed number of singers, and the balance of voices parts is important. However, we should be able to accommodate a large group for Divas, and hope to be able to place everyone in at least one of the two projects!

Please read the descriptions of each below, and look at all rehearsal dates before registering—THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR LOTR, which requires a middle-of-the-day rehearsal on a weekday. (While we can have a few people missing, we need the majority of our choir there.)

Then indicate your preferences in the registration form below. As always, contact juli@panoramicvoices.org with questions or concerns.

All rehearsals will be held at Northwest Hills United Methodist’s Sanctuary (7050 Village Center Drive, Austin, TX) unless otherwise noted.

PROJECT 1: DIVAS

We will be performing a smattering of pop hits by various “divas through the decades” alongside our friends at Density512. We’ve hired 5 local composers to write arrangements for us, too! This project will be a lot like our popular That’s So Nineties show from last season—expect the same amount of nostalgia, silliness, and thematic nonsense, paired with exceptional renditions of your favorite pop hits.

Our originally scheduled venue has cancelled on us, and we are still working on booking a new one: As such, we are not sure if there will be ONE or TWO performances of this show. It is likely that we will be renting a bigger (read: more expensive) venue for ONE day rather than our typical size venue for both, but this is not firm yet. Thanks for your flexibility!

This project has 10 rehearsals, and is appropriate for ALL singers, from beginning to professional! While the music can be a bit challenging at times, we will have rehearsal tracks and exceptional section leaders available to help singers of all backgrounds be successful.

PROJECT 2: LORD OF THE RINGS

WITH TEXAS PERFORMING ARTS

We will be performing Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring with Texas Performing Arts at Bass Concert Hall on June 12–14. These spectacular performances will feature a full professional orchestra, a children’s choir, and the film projected on the big screen—potentially conducted by Howard Shore, the composer himself (this was the original plan but we’ve heard whispers that it might not happen… stay tuned).

!!!IMPORTANT!!!!

This is not the typical Panoramic Voices project. We are a hired, professional choir for this very large-scale production. As such:

  • Attendance is less flexible than usual—singers may miss ONE rehearsal, but should contact Juli if there are likely to be more absences before registering. Singers who miss more than 2 rehearsals total—including excused ones—will not be allowed to perform.

  • Concert week will be INTENSE—expect to feel like a professional, gigging singer for this one, for better or for worse.

    • We will need to be at rehearsal during the middle of the day on Friday, June 12. I know that’s not ideal, but Pano has no say in the scheduling.

    • We are, however, pushing hard for the June 10/11 rehearsal to be at nighttime so that only ONE weekday obligation is involved. Regardless, these are very important and cannot be casually missed. Thank you for understanding!

    • This project might be a little difficult for the average beginner. The music is challenging and involves multiple languages!

    • We must act with extreme professionalism once we are at Bass Concert Hall. That means: no, we cannot wear costumes… no, we can’t chat with our neighbors when we aren’t singing… no, we can’t watch the movie while the show is going… no, we can’t stroll in late, or leave early. We strive to always make Pano a fun, casual, low-stakes rehearsal environment. But sometimes, we need to “step it up” for these kinds of gigs.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THESE PARAMETERS (and with the intense rehearsal schedule) BEFORE REGISTERING TO SING!
