KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!

We’re so excited to see you this weekend at Central Machine Works for our third annual “Light it Up!” festival! This year’s festival includes a FREE concert at 6pm, but we hope you’ll catch some of the festivities leading up to it too! Below is some important information for Sunday.

GETTING TO THE SHOW:

Sunday, December 7:

  • 3PM – Festival Open 3:30PM – Community Caroling

  • 4:30PM – Guillermo’s Classical Trivia: Holiday Bonus Round

  • 5:45PM – Opening set: Sound Collective

WHERE

Central Machine Works
4824 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702

This is a fully functional brewery, restaurant, and bar. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome, though we encourage you to read the content disclaimer below!

Please note that our festival will be completely outdoors! Right now, it’s looking like it will be a beautiful weekend… keep an eye on the weather and bring those layers. (Central Machine has completely redone their outdoor space—there is a ton of shade and seating now!)

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION

There is a large lot on the north side of the building (entrance off of 5th), however it does tend to fill up. There is street parking throughout the neighborhood (especially on 5th and on Cesar Chavez).

OR, take the bus! A variety of bus lines have stops within two blocks of Central Machine. You can plan your route here: https://www.capmetro.org/plan/schedmap

FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES:

CAROLING (3:30PM):

Whether you’re a seasoned musician or a shower-only kind of singer, we invite you to sing/play through the classics in a no-pressure, no-consequences community caroling session. Grab a packet from the PANO table, or follow one of the QR codes around the venue to view the PDF version on your phone or tablet—OR, FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND JUMP IN WHEN YOU CAN. There’re no rule here!

If you’re an instrumentalist, you’re welcome to play through the carols; we’ve even transposed a couple lines for each song for F and Bb instruments! Please do bring a music stand!

TRIVIA (4:30 PM):

Form a team of 6 or fewer and compete for prizes in this flash round of Guillermo’s popular Classical Trivia. Visit the trivia table near the stage any time after 4:15 to sign your team up to play. Once we get going, things will move fast, so be sure to visit the KMFA trivia table prior to the 4:30 start time.

OPENING SET BY SOUND COLLECTIVE (5:45PM):

We are overjoyed to welcome Austin’s brand new special needs chorus, Sound Collective, who will perform an opening set leading into our 6pm concert. THIS WILL BE THE DEBUT PERFORMANCE FOR THIS ENSEMBLE—please come give them a warm, rowdy welcome!

“LIGHT IT UP” CONCERT (6:00PM):

CONCERT PROGRAM

Our concert program is offered digitally ONLY. We will have QR codes available for you to pull it up on site, and it will be posted on our website by on Thursday morning. Central Machine Works has public WIFI that is available for your use, too!

THE CROWD

All seating is first-come, first-served. While we are anticipating a large crowd for this event, we encourage those who have strong concert-viewing preferences to come a little early to stake out their space!

BUY MERCH!

We will have festival t-shirts on sale at the Panoramic Voices table near the entrance to the brewery! 100% of profits benefit Panoramic Voices and its “music without borders” mission!

Thank you again for spending some time with us during this very busy month! We cannot wait to ring in the holiday season with you! If you have any questions, you can reach us at chorus_manager@panoramicvoices.org.
