SoundSpace at the Blanton

  • Blanton Museum of Art 200 East Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard Austin, TX, 78712 United States (map)

SoundSpace is a hybrid arts series which features simultaneous, interdisciplinary performances, installations, and happenings throughout the Blanton's galleries. September’s installation plays out amongst the exhibit Jeffrey Gibson: This Is the Day.

Panoramic Voices premiered two works in this concert: A Room and A Field by R. Eric McMaster, and mythos by teenage composer Mack Felix Hoxie.

A Room and A Field uses over 25 wind chimes to create a sound field that surrounds the viewer. A series of coordinated voice mechanisms performed by Panoramic Voices highlighted the expansive nature of this listening experience

mythos dives into the intricate threads that make up a legend passed down through a culture. This choral work conveys the hints of an absolute reality, the awe of a powerful legend, and the inexplicable connection a culture has concerning these legends.
